Bonus points for also including your worst ticket, even if it wasn't the most recent!

I'll go (don't judge me):

Last ticket...I really can't remember, it's been a while.

Worst ticket: 101 in a 65, Florida. Punishment: nothing. Florida.

Second worst ticket 75 in a 25, Florida. Punishement: nothing. Florida.

My last ticket? Was driving a flamed coloured Mustang from BC through Washington watching everyone from BC get pulled over on Interstate 5. We having a ridiculous arguement about how somehow a car from BC had pulled over another car (me to my friend: that is impossible), when a cop pulled us over. 72 mph in a 60 zone. Thought it was a 70 zone.

Got a 15 over speeder last year. Cost me $135. I was pissed because I wan't in a hurry, and wasn't intending to speed. Before that, I hadn't received a ticket in 15 years (almost to the week). I had a string of 5 warnings in a row going.

A couple weeks ago got pulled over for doing 82 in a 70. But because I just got written up for a 75 in a 70 when I was actually doing 85mph a month prior, he let me off easy. Just impeding traffic.

Worst ticket was 10mph. I'm polite and never have been written for the full amount. Or is it like that for most people?

42 in a 30. As soon as I pulled over I took off my seatbelt, reached into my glovebox for my registration and had my license ready to go. I said "yes sir" and was very polite. Most recent, and worst: 61 in a 55, right as a 70MPH-limit freeway slows for a stoplight a half-mile down the road.

$120 ticket, plus $75 "safety course" so I didn't get the points.

Seriously. Let that sink in.

Katie's Cars&Coffee Great Falls, VA. My first time. Aug 25, 2012

I mashed the gas to make it through a red light, but didn't make it. Braked hard, almost came to a stop, then made the right hand turn towards the entrance ramp to the highway.

It was a no turn on red, but at 6:15 in the morning, who cares, right?

Kinja'd!!!

I tried to be charming and innocent, claiming that I thought it wasn't a no-turn-on-red from the center lane, but he wasn't having it. I got a ticket for "failure to pay attention to a highway sign" which was nice since I actually didn't come to a full stop in the first place.

Not only did he not find me charming, I did not either after watching the GoPro footage later.

I've been driving for two years so far, and still haven't managed to get a ticket. I was stopped by police once, in the middle of the night, for doing about thirty five in a thirty, but they let me off with a verbal warning. 'You should be more careful, young man' and so on. I think the main reason they stopped me was to make sure I wasn't drunk, or anything; it was around pub kicking-out time.

Blasting along in CAR LOL (1997 monte carlo ls) doing about 90 on 69 west. I was in a pack of other traffic doing 90 but I got pulled along with like 3 others when we passed 4 cops parked in the median strip. I pulled off immediately and had to sit for 20 minutes while I imagine the others ran. I should point out that this was just outside Flint, MI so the chances are very high they had outstanding warrants and/or suspended licenses.

Cop finally walks over to me and we have the following exchange.

Cop: Sir do you know how fast you were going back there?
Me: No, I was just keeping up with traffic and this speedo isn't that accurate (half-true. It wasn't accurate until about 70)
Cop: Well I clocked you at 86......and we dial these down a bit so it's entirely possible you were doing in excess of 90, maybe even 95
Me: .....maaaaaaaaybe
Cop: BUT! 2 things. First of all, I like your car
Me: Thanks?
Cop: And more importantly, you pulled over once you saw me. Everyone else ran. They also ran through the construction zone that's a mile down the road. So they've got much bigger tickets than yours (he finishes scribbling something down on the ticket he brought over)
Cop: ......Okay, so we're just going to say 5 over. No points, no other violations or infractions, 105$ fine, no court appearance, and have a nice day.

Picked up a 47 in a 40 last month. The officer informed me that they changed the limit the day before from 45 down to 40 and they would be here all week to let people know. "With a warning", I asked? The officer just chuckled, ah no. $153.

My favorite ticket was in 1999 for 105 in a 65. I was driving my new Honda Insight demo car through West Texas. He didn't fall for the "it has a low coefficient of drag which makes the wind noise non existent, I didn't realize how fast I was going excuse." But, he did write it for 90, so I could take defensive driving. He asked me half a dozen times, "now, what kind of car is this?"

no tickets yet. I have a good story though.

You know those little screens that display your speed? They put one up on this long slightly curving road near my house where the speed limit is 35. You can (and everyone does) go 50 without trouble and I guess the cops wanted to stop that. Anyways, after 5 days of driving by it and not seeing cops, we wanted to have a little fun. I wanted to see how fast I could go through it. I was doing around 95 when I passed it and saw a cop hiding behind a building jump on his motorcycle. At the same time, I saw an M6 fly past me in the right lane doing well over 100. I make a quick left into a neighborhood and he starts to pursuit the M6.

That would've been very, very bad. Would've been considered reckless driving.

I swear, he radioed ahead to all his sheriff buddies. I got pulled over four more times on that trip for: not having a front plate (it's a dealer plate, officer, it only comes with one. Well, what kind of car is this?), not having a registration sticker (it's a dealer plate, officer, the sticker is on the back plate. Well, what kind of car is this?), impeding traffic (is there a reason you are driving less than the speed limit?, Well officer, you see, there has been a cop car behind me for the last 5 miles...... Well, what kind of car is this?) and for touching the white line (I'm not completely sure that I did this, but I knew he just wanted to know what kind of car this was....). I got four warnings that weekend and talked to some very sweet good old boy West Texas sheriffs that didn't know what a hybrid was.

This was about a year ago.

I had been looking for parking for close to 30 minutes and I saw on the corner nearby there seemed like just enough space for me to park, problem was there were 2 separate white lines and the rear of my car would've been on some of the first white line.

As I'm at the light debating with my passenger on whether or not it's valid I saw there were 2 cops standing on the corner so I figured I'd pull into the spot and ask them. I turn into the corner spot (traveled less than 30 feet) put my car in park and ask one of the officers if this was a valid spot. She takes a few steps back and says she wouldn't risk it and that I might get a ticket parking there so she wouldn't advise it, I tell her thanks and was just about to leave.

Just then her partner comes running to my window demanding my license and registration, I give it to him and ask him what happened he says I never signaled to park, comes back with a ticket worth $125 and 2 points on my license. I'm like "Officer I just finished having a conversation with your partner and now you're giving me a moving violation while my car has been in park this whole time?" He basically threatens me by saying "You sure you want to do this right here" so I told him I'll see him in court.

I plead not guilty and beat it in court.

Last ticket: Right turn against a red right turn arrow. As with basically any red-light related ticket in CA, it was a $490 ticket. The cop was mistaken, the intersection I got the ticket at does not have a red right turn arrow - it's a normal round red signal. I went back the next day with my camera, took a photo of the stoplight with each segment illuminated, and got it thrown out with a Written Declaration.

One stop sign warning (1/2 block from my house...careless me); otherwise no moving violations since....1978. I was driving my mother's '75 Caddy Coupe de Ville barge. My uncle had a florist shop in the small northeastern NC town where he and my grandmother lived. There was a funeral about 90 minutes away and a mess of flowers needed to go there. Last one was driving home from a carpool. Town was about 30 to 40 minutes from my city. I was cruising within the ok zone (Possibly 20 over the limit in metric, eh?). The road was hilly and had very few passing zones. I was stuck behind someone (insert stereotypes here because yes it was an old woman) doing 70 max in an 80. Well I got to the last spot for a bit where I could pass. Whan I hit a higher rate of speed than legal during the pass, I let off hoping the slope of the hill would bring me down.

God bless those wonderful provincial authorities and their always on, front and back radars. The officer driving noted my higher than acceptable speed and used his flashing lights to warn me of this situation, and his concern for my wellbeing as well as those around me (I assume the people in the house about 2kms away). He informed me of my infraction, but out of the goodness of his heart ( and nothing to do with only needing to meet an issued ticket quota for his performance review) he decided the equipment and my speedometer were less correct than his trained observer eyes. I was indeed above the legal limit, however nowhere near where I thought I was... thank goodness as I thought I was truly and egregiously violating the law. Turns out I was only denting it.

Everyone told me to fight it. Their logic? I was passing and therefore exempt in some way. I marvel at this when I reflect upon it. Not the speeding, not the sterotypical slow driver, not telling the officer to go put his hat on as it was very cold and starting to rain and I would feel terrible if he caught pneumonia from giving me a ticket ( I relented and let him finish giving it to me as it would speed up him getting back to his car), not the stupidity of the situation (5 seconds on the brake would have saved me $50). The fact that people felt that I was ever in the right when violating a law. No one was endangered, all recommended signals were used and passing approved areas, were where it occurred, but the law was broken and I was caught.

My first ticket was 60 in a 40. I saw the cop on a side street and realized how fast I was going. I was pulled over and waiting before he put his donut down and shifted out of park.

Never got a ticket in a military vehicle. By the time I passed them, they saw the Federal plates and were back in park.

My most recent ticket was probably 7 year ago a week before Christmas. I wanted to get my soon to be deceased grandfather a Christmas present. It was late, probably 8 ish and we were heading to a shopping plaza in Scottsdale and most of the stores close around 9. I was travelling down a road that is normally 45mph, but that night it was under construction, so the speed was reduced to 35. The road was empty, but unlit so I stayed at 45. A cop hiding behind a bush nailed me for it. Was stuck there long enough the stores were closed. I never got him a present in time, and I actually never saw him before he died.

My worst ticket was on the way to Vegas earlier that year. Outside a small town called Wickenburg. There was a severe downgrade on the freeway with a speed trap at the bottom. I was clocked at 93mph in a 65 because I was coating. The cop wrote me up at 85.

I have a story!

I used to work in studio when getting my degree until the wee hours of the morning, and then blast home on a mix of highway and country roads to get as much snoozing in as possible before getting up and doing it again. And I'll have you know, I don't know if it was the caffeine, the sleep deprivation, or the empty roads, but I used to drive like an asshole.

This one night at about 3:30, I'm coming off the exit ramp (from the empty freeway on which I was probably doing 85, and know all the PoPo hidey holes) and barely slow down for the right turn at a stop sign to get home. I see the lights come on behind me, and pull well over, and of course I'm thinking "oh fuck, how long was he following me?" The trooper comes over, and we go through the motions of exchanging paperwork. He asks me why I think he pulled me over, and I say: "I'm not sure officer, I may have been going a little fast??" in that not so sure, but if I phrase it like a question it sounds more innocent voice.

The officer asks me where I'm coming from, and I say school. He gives me a look that conveys a certain distrust and disbelief that someone in so ratty an old sports sedan at such an obscene hour would be such a diligent student, and I explain that I'm studying architecture at such and such a college, and no really, this sort of thing is normal. He asks me if I've been drinking tonight, and I say absolutely not, officer.

The Trooper tells me ok, because if you had, it would explain the way you look. You crossed over the white line making that turn back there. Get home safe, and get some sleep. I say, thank you officer, have a good night. This story isn't about a ticket, it's about a very nice NYS Trooper, and ow I drove the final 5 miles home like an absolute saint.

This sort of thing happened on three separate occasions while I was in school!
